It was an action packed fall season for Henry Hudson Regional’s High School and Middle School teams.  Our athletes gave their all at every practice and game and demonstrated the true spirit of teamwork and dedication while experiencing many successes along the way.  Below are just a few highlights of the fall season. Go Admirals!

High School

Cross Country team member Corina Vidal had another amazing season. The sophomore led the girls team (the first in 25 years!), coached by Sean Pharo, by winning all of the team’s dual meets and the team finished with a 2 and 4 record. Corina is a true team leader and an inspiration to our young group of girls.  During the regular season, Corina finished 15th at the Monmouth County Championships and 18th at the Shore Conference Championships.

In the month of November, Corina won the NJ Central Group I Sectionals becoming only the second and youngest girl to do this from Henry Hudson. She also finished 4th at the Group I Championships and finished 65th out 180 girls in the Meet of Champions.   At the Footlocker Northeast Regional Championships, Corina finished 3rd in the sophomore class race.  She was selected to the All Group I first team and to the All Shore second team to finish out a stellar season!

The Girls Varsity Tennis Team, coached by Dawn Desanto, had a fantastic season, finishing with 10 wins. They qualified for the State Tournament, winning the 1st round, and also participated in the Monmouth County Tennis Tournament. The girls were led by Seniors Madison Winters, Julia Forsyth and Katherine Mueller, who will be missed greatly next year!  The team is proudest that they raised $1,247.50 for hurricane relief by holding a "Tennis Serve-A-Thon".

The Varsity Field Hockey Team, coached by Vincent Whitehead, had a great season, ending with an 11-6 record and trips to both the Shore Conference Tournament and Central Jersey Group I Tournament.  Seniors Julia Crowther and Shannon McGavin were named to the 2017 Shore Conference All Division Team.  Top goal scorers for the season were Kami Hubeny along with Crowther and McGavin, and the three also led the team in assists.  Goalkeepers Brea Carlstrom and Genevieve Keelen had a combined season total of 74 saves.   The team will miss their 8 graduating seniors next year.

The Boys Varsity Soccer team, coached by Michael Mancini ended their season with a 4-16 overall record and played in the Central Jersey Group 1 Tournament.  Top scorers included Barret Bremekamp, Odhran King, Wind Levybensetton and Lucas Mednis.  Goalkeepers Michael Mohr and Liam Hagan had a combined total of 225 saves for the season.  The team is looking forward to next year with many up and coming players.

Henry Hudson had 3 players on the Keyport Girls Varsity Soccer team this season, which ended with a 3-11 record.  Senior Madeline Reynolds, junior Nicole Frasciello and freshman Sara Kmak all contributed to the team’s wins and worked hard all season. The girls won their last game against South Amboy. 7-0. Madeline and Nicole each scored a goa and Sara got to play for almost the whole second half. It was a great day for our Lady Admirals and a great way to end the season.

Middle School

The Boys and Girls Middle School Soccer teams both had winning seasons that ended with trips to the finals of the Middle School Soccer Tournament! The Boys team, coached by Ryan Patrick, finished with a record of 8-3-1 and unfortunately lost 1-0 to Red Bank Middle School. Seven different players scored goals this season, and the team had a total of 5 shutouts.  The Girls team, coached by Michael Manigrasso finished with an outstanding overall record of 11-3 Great job to both teams!

This year's Middle School Field Hockey team, coached by Kim Karaman, was a young team, it consisted of 7-7th graders, 7- 6th graders, and 6 - 5th graders.  Although, it was a rebuilding year, the team had great enthusiasm, tenacity, and dedication! These young ladies came out to work hard and play hard every practice and every game! The team demonstrated an abundance of spirit and camaraderie as well! The overall record was 2-1-7, and each game was played with a lot of heart and effort.

Both the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams finished with 4 wins and 4 losses and came in 7th at the Meet of Champions.  Both teams were coached by Krista Phair and Steve Stabile.

All of our Admiral Athletes are looking forward to next fall and many are already playing winter sports!  Basketball and track are in full swing and our HHRS teams are looking great!
