Atlantic Highlands Elementary School’s 5th graders proudly graduated from the Law Enforcement Against Drugs (LEAD) program on June 13th.  LEAD is a statewide non-profit organization supported by dedicated local police departments committed to protecting our youth and communities from the proliferation of drugs, drug related crimes, peer to peer/cyber bullying and violence.  The Atlantic Highlands Police Department worked closely with our students to educate them about making the right choices and we are so appreciative to everyone involved.  Thank you to AHES teachers Mrs. Bellantoni, Mrs. Caruso and Mrs. Talerico as well as Atlantic Highlands Police Chief Vasco, Sgt. Doherty and the other officers who were able to attend the ceremony.

Three AHES students were recognized for their outstanding essays related to saying no to drugs and making the right choices- Talia Snedeker received the 1st place award, Angelina Nunez received 2nd place and Casey Forbes received 3rd place.  The three winners read their essays at the ceremony and several small groups of students performed original songs with anti-drug themes.

After the ceremony, the 5th graders were treated to a free movie at Atlantic Cinemas courtesy of Fred and Mickey Rast.  The Atlantic Highlands PBA also provided pizza, drinks and balloons which made for a great day for the students.

Congratulations to all of our 2017 AHES LEAD program graduates!
